Organics continues shaping the future of EU agriculture as member of the EBAF
BRUSSELS, 23 JANUARY 2025 – “Organic farmers and food producers are leading efforts to make European agriculture truly sustainable, I am honored to represent IFOAM Organics Europe in the EBAF and will do my best to build bridges with all actors and create consensus to reconcile nature protection with farmers income, in line with the recommendations of the strategic dialogue”, states Jan Plagge, President of IFOAM Organics Europe.
IFOAM Organics Europe received confirmation that it will be part of the European Board on Agriculture and Food (EBAF) and will be represented by its president Jan Plagge. Since 2011 Jan Plagge is president of Bioland, an organic association in Germany and Italy and since 2018 he is president of IFOAM Organics Europe in his third mandate. Jan Plagge converted his family farm in Lower Saxony to organic in 1992 and has more than 15 years of engagement in organic advisory and training services.
Jan Plagge continues, “The strategic dialogue concluded that the time to act is now to bring our food production in line with planetary boundaries and to improve farmers income.”
