Closing nutrient’s cycles: Reshaping EU agri-food system for greater autonomy and sustainability?
On 29 November, 13:30-15:30 CET, IFOAM Organics Europe, together with Agroecology Europe, the European Environmental Bureau, and the Air Pollution and Climate Secretariat, held the policy workshop “Closing nutrient’s cycles: reshaping EU agri-food system for greater autonomy and sustainability?”
The workshop took place at the European Parliament and was hosted by Members of the European Parliament (MEP) Margrete Auken and Thomas Waitz (Greens/EFA). MEP Jan Huitema (RENEW) also joined as a special participant.
At this policy workshop, MEPs and representatives from the Commission & Member States exchanged with experts and researchers, farmers, and journalists about:
- Possible solutions to reach the Farm to Fork’s 50% target of nutrient losses reduction and 20% target of fertilizers use reduction; and
- How the Integrated Nutrients Management Action Plan (INMAP) expected for early 2023 can support these objectives.
Please find the programme of the event.
A report of the workshop is available.
