Organic movement’s voice in the Civil Dialogue Group on Environment, Climate and the CAP

As IFOAM Organics Europe, our members and experts regularly advise and discuss policy options with the Commission and other stakeholders at meetings of the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI)’s Civil Dialogue Groups (CDG).

To make our voice heard we participated to the Joint CDG meeting on environment, climate change and the CAP strategic plans on 14 March 2024. On the agenda:

  • Reflections on the positives, bottlenecks, and possible improvements of the CAP’s green architecture;
  • Discussions on ways to achieve sustainable livestock farming transition in the EU;
  • Updates and exchanges on the current crisis and the proposals for simplification;
  • Presentation of the EU Climate Target 2040;
  • Presentation of the European Climate Risks assessments published by the European Environmental Agency.

Members find the full debrief, presentations and agenda on our member extranet > Civil Dialogue Group > Meetings documents. Are you an IFOAM Organics Europe member who does not have access to our member extranet yet? Contact [email protected].

How do Civil Dialogue Groups (CDG)’s works and how can you get involved?

  • Option 1: Assigned member
    Assigned members of a CDG can attend CDG meetings and have the right to take the floor. They are assigned following a short and easy application process. IFOAM Organics Europe members who are interested in a seat in the CDGs can write to [email protected]. Following your application, our Board assigns the selected members for a two-years mandate.
    A list of our members who are part of the CDGs is available on our member extranet.
  • Option 2: Observer
    It is also possible to join CDG meetings as an observer (online). We make the observer link available to all our members on member extranet > Civil Dialogue Group > Events.
