Supporting knowledge exchange between AKIS-actors: EU-FarmBook project launched

This August, the EU-FarmBook project started. Its goal is to support knowledge exchange between all actors active in the national Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) of the European Union. The project will further develop and expand an easily accessible and user-friendly EU-wide digital knowledge platform.

The EU-FarmBook project follows up on the EUREKNOS and EUREKA sister projects, that have co-created “the network to connect all Thematic Networks” (2019-2021). Examples of such thematic knowledge networks are OK-Net Arable and OK-Net EcoFeed which IFOAM Organics Europe coordinated.

Just like EUREKNOS and EUREKA, EU-FarmBook is based on the multi-actor approach, aiming to involve farmers, farm workers, agricultural educators, researchers, non-academic experts, public and independent private advisors, supply chain actors, and other actors in agriculture.

Within EU-FarmBook, IFOAM Organics Europewill make sure that the knowledge objects on the platform will suit the needs of organic actors. Furthermore, we will promote the use of the FarmBook platform and link it up to the already existing knowledge platform for the organic sector: Organic Farm Knowledge. Additionally, IFOAM Organics Europe will be involved in the creation of Education and Training material, such as practice abstracts and communication materials such as webcasts, farm cafes and knowledge exchange seminars.

Ghent University coordinates the EU-FarmBook project which will run until the end of 2029, consisting of a consortium of 29 participating organizations.
