The European organic movement welcomes opportunities promoting organic agriculture in the European Commission’s promotion policy work programme

The European organic movement welcomes the special attention reserved to organic agriculture in the European Commission’s promotion policy work programme.

It is a very concrete first step to reaching the 25% target of organic land in Europe by 2030. The organic movement will do its best to make sure the organic sector fully uses this important opportunity, and calls on the Commission to make this call an example for the next annual calls.

IFOAM Organics Europe’s President stated: “I am happy with this concrete offer and measure to all farmers in our European Union. To overcome the current vicious circle many farmers are stuck in, we need a change in consumer habits and make it attractive for farmers to convert to organic farming. We are thrilled that the Commission sends exact this message in its promotion policy work programme, and I am confident that investments and conversion to organic offers a perspective to farmers all over Europe.”

In January, IFOAM Organics Europe will share detailed updates about the opportunities with its members. Keep an eye on the news on our member extranet.
